Dedication

On the evening of Oct 22nd, we invited our Kickstarter sponsors, volunteers, and friends from Pendragon to join us on set for a dedication.

The purpose of this dedication was to thank the Lord for his provision of three major items: first, the 24K raised through Kickstarter that allowed us to begin set construction, second, the volunteers who have been helping so much with this effort, and third, Hillside Bible Church for their donation of the property where we are constructing the sets.

At the dedication ceremony, Director Dr. Chad Burns spoke about the theme of Beyond the Mask, which is finding our personal identity in Christ. Chad also shared an important prayer request – please pray that the Lord will open doors for the production fundraising. Producer Aaron Burns led a time of worship and then several men offered prayers of thanks. About 130 people attended the event. It was great to re-connect with old friends and make new ones.

We are so excited about what the Lord is doing and thank you all for your prayers and support.

The past several days have been packed with action. Over the weekend, our screenwriter Paul McCusker flew to Detroit for an intense session of script writing and collaboration with Aaron, Chad, and Nick. This is the first time Paul has been in the Detroit area, and it was my great privilege to meet him when he spent dinner with my family Monday night. It was a very pleasant evening discussing the Beyond the Mask project with Paul, and listening to him relate stories of how he and the Adventures in Odyssey team created their timeless characters.

Paul is fun to be around and is gifted with the incredible ability to communicate truth through his writing in an enjoyable and engaging way. It’s exciting to watch as Paul works with the team to bring the characters to life to share the spiritual theme of the film. Overall, the team made great progress as they worked together on the script’s development.
